Project Management Best Practices
Chuck Middleton, PMP
Can you really meet project deadlines? What is the best way to stop "scope creep"? How do you get a team to really "gel"? What's the best way to resolve conflicts? Why does PMI teach us to go for win-win relationships with vendors, rather than just trying to get the best deal for ourselves? What's the difference between Quality Control and Quality ssurance, and why is Quality Assurance so important?
The Real Value of Earned Value - The PM Metric that Just Keeps on Giving
Earned Value Management System (EVMS)-say these words loudly and then watch as fully grown professionals run from the project kick-off meeting screamingas if the end of their project management world was near.
EVMS is NOT just for Government projects! After five decades this incredibly powerful and insightful project management tool (yes it is just a tool likethe dozens of others that are stored in the PM professional's tool box) remains viciously maligned and grossly misunderstood by the very people it can help the most-the people who have been charged with the responsibilityof determining and analyzing the status of the project AND makingsuggestions for dealing with project variances.
This presentation will confirm for each participant that the secret passwordto efficient and productive use of the Earned Value project metric is:COMMONSENSE! Unfortunately, Common Sense doesn't seem to be that Commonwhen it comes to managing projects. But, join Lee and learn why you shouldbe using Earned Value before it is mandated. Learn how to implement theEarned Value metric in a totally painless way without anyone even knowingyou are using it. Learn the techniques that will allow you to "baby step"your way to capitalizing on the real power of the EV process while renderingthe problems that face every project powerless. Once you realize how easyEV application is you will decide that the cost of using Earned Value onyour project is: PRICELESS

Using Myriad PM Tools to Create and Communicate Vital Decision Support Information
This program is aimed at improving the PM professional's ability to truly make a difference in his/her organization. The material will educate and enable the attendee to master the use of critical PM tools in order to capitalize on their ability to generate project truth while empowering themselves to make extreme "value add" contributions to the decision making cycle.
When understood and applied in a consistent manner, the tools and techniques covered will allow the user to separate from the PM professional pack by providing timely information that will enable decision makers to be aware and consider all possible alternatives-before making critical project decisions.
After this program you will be able to:
* Improve your ability to develop comprehensive project scope/requirements documents
* Recognize what steps/actions are necessary to establish a meaningful Project PMB
* Separate truth from fiction in assessing project progress/status-predict the future
* Understand the difference between Baseline Change and Work Plan Change
* Go "UP" the learning curve toward continuous improvement
SEE the CALENDAR for REGISTRATION LINK.
